BACKLIGHT COMPENSATION

When the subject is backlit,
theimage
will be dark-
ened if it is recorded normally. The
VIEWCAM’s
backlight compensation (BLC) feature can improve
the picture.
This function cannot be used when the “LIGHT” indi-
cator (warning of too little ambient illumination) is
displayed in the top left of the
VIEWCAM’s
monitor.

Press the MODE DISPLAY button to display the
auto/manual videography indicators on the
monitor.
Make sure that “BLC” is displayed above the
@I
button, and then press the
@I
button.
The backlight compensation indicator
I’m”
appears in the top left of the monitor, indicating
that the BLC function is now working.
To turn off the BLC function, press the BLC but-
ton (@I) again. The
“m”
indicator disappears.
GAIN-UP (CAT’S EYE)
When you are recording in a dark or poorly illumi-
nated location, the “LIGHT” indicator (warning of too
little ambient illumination) is displayed in the top left
of the
VIEWCAM’s
monitor. The gain-up function lets
you record a brighter picture.

Make sure that “GAIN-UP” is displayed above

button, and then press the
@J
button.
The “LIGHT” display changes to the gain-up
(cat’s eye) display
“QXD”,
indicating that the
gain-up function is now working.
To turn off the gain-up function, press the
GAIN-
UP button

again. The
“w”
indicator
changes to the “LIGHT” indicator.
Notes:
l
If the
VIEWCAM
is
moved to a bright location after it is
engaged in Gain-up
mode, the Gain-up mode will disen-
gage automatically.
l There is more picture noise in Gain-up mode.
