2) Inspection of parts
(1) Rotor
① Inspection of slip ring surface.
Correct stain or scratches on the slip ring surface
with a sand paper of about 400 – 600 #.
A badly roughened slip ring or a slip ring worn
down beyond the service limit should be replaced.
② Check for continuity between both the slip rings. If
there is no continuity, the field coil is defective.
Replace the rotor assembly.
③ Check for continuity between the slip ring and shaft
(or core).
If there is continuity, it means that the coil or slip
ring is grounded.
Replace the rotor assembly.
(2) Stator
① Check for continuity between the leads of the stator
coil.
If there is no continuity, the stator coil is defective.
Replace the stator assembly.
