What to do if the 'Result' LED on my SICK CLV 422 Barcode Reader doesn't light up?

If the 'Result' LED doesn't light up, the 'Result 2' switching output doesn't pulse, or the SICK Barcode Reader (CLV) outputs status ST = 2, it indicates an unsuccessful read. This could be due to several reasons: * No barcode was present in the reading field during the reading pulse. * The scan line may be positioned incorrectly. * The evaluation range of the scan line (CP values) might be improperly limited. * The barcode might be presented at an incorrect reading distance or be excessively tilted. * The reading angles could be too large or the barcode might be in the total reflection zone. To resolve this: * Synchronize reading with the object. * Ensure the barcode is centered on the scan line and check reading quality in the CLV Setup program using PERCENTAGE EVALUATIO...

      Tyler WalkerNov 17, 2025
If your SICK Barcode Reader (CLV) isn't reading the application-specific barcode, and there's no confirmation from the beeper, it could be due to the following reasons: * The CLV is not in 'AutoSetup' mode. * If AutoSetup was started with profile barcode no. 10, the 5-second wait time after power-up might have been exceeded. * The barcode is presented at an incorrect reading distance. * The barcode is in the total reflection zone. * The barcode quality is not adequate. To troubleshoot: * Check if the 'Device Ready' LED is lit, indicating the CLV is in 'reading' mode. If it is, restart AUTOSETUP from the VIEW pull-down menu in the CLV Setup program. * Power cycle the CLV and present profile barcode no. 10 within 5 seconds, then present the application-specific barcode. * ...

If the 'Device Ready' LED on your SICK Barcode Reader is not lit, it could mean: After switching on: * The Barcode Reader is not getting power. * The Barcode Reader found an error during its self-test. During operation: * The Barcode Reader is not in reading mode. * The Barcode Reader turned off the laser after 10 minutes (default) from the start of the reading pulse. To fix this: * Check the power wiring, especially the power connector to the connection module. Measure the voltage at pin 1 and pin 5. * Try turning the Barcode Reader off and on again. If the LED still doesn't light up, contact SICK Service. * Use the CLV Setup program to return to reading mode. * End the reading pulse, check its function, generate a new pulse, or change the laser timeout using the CLV...
