Meaning of Status
A status byte is transmitted synchronously in addition to each of the measured values in the DS-33 data
structure. This byte provides indication of the quality for this value in a “quality code“.
The status byte has the following structure:
See PROFIBUS-PA Profile for Process Control Devices / General Requirements for a detailed description
MSB
76 5 4 3 2 1 0
Quality Substatus Limits
0 0 bad bad
0 1 uncertain uncertain
1 0 good good
1 1 good (cascaded) good (cascaded)
The substatus has a different
quality depending on the
coding
00ok
0 1 low limited limit value undershot
1 0 high limited limit value exceeded
1 1 constant value constant
