SCP 111 S-DIAS SAFETY CPU MODULE
Page 48 04.11.2020
Connection via UDP (requires an Ethernet interface on both PLCs)
A further distinction is made according to the transfer method or administration of the
connection:
Interface connections (connection via VBC021, VMC052 or UDP)
FlexCon = Flexible Constellation = Safety Hot Swap (connection via VBC021 or VMC052)
12.7.1 When to use interface connections and when to use FlexCon?
In many cases both are possible, here the basic advantages of the individual procedures:
12.7.1.1 Advantages of interface connections compared to FlexCon
Communication can be configured as required (number and types of safe signals can be
selected and must match the remote station exactly)
Different communication between different participants of the same network possible
(communication machine A to B may differ from communication machine C to B)
12.7.1.2 Advantages of FlexCon compared to interface connections
Enables safe communication with unknown machine parts that automatically have the
same communication structure through FlexCon (same number of input and output
signals)
With several optional machine parts, if only a few safe signals are required, a system can
simply be created in which individual participants are safely logged off at runtime, while
the rest of the network continues to run without errors.
