10. Preparing an
espresso
DANGER! Risk of injury
through scalding!
During the preparation of espresso, hot
steam is released from the brewing
head14. The brewing head is still hot
even after preparation. Do not touch it
or put your hands or other body parts
in the steam under any circumstances.
NOTE: if you wish to use a taller container,
you can remove the drip grid13 and place
the container directly into the drip tray12.
10.1 Extracting a single
espresso
Requirement: the device is ready to be used.
The LED rings17,18 are permanently lit.
1. For a single espresso, use the filter2.
2. Insert the prepared portafilter16 with
the handle at T under the brewing
head14.
3. Turn the handle of the portafilter16 to
the right as far as T . The portafilter
must be tight.
4. Place the preheated cup under the
spout of the portafilter16.
5. Press the button 17.
- The LED ring 17 flashes.
- The LED ring 18 goes out.
- The espresso flows slowly into the cup
and stops automatically.
6. If you want to cancel the process, press
the button 17 again.
NOTE: you can change the amount of wa-
ter stored for a single espresso (see “Adjust
espresso volume” on page 79).
7. When the process is complete, the LED
rings17,18 will again be lit continu-
ously.
8. Turn the handle of the portafilter16 to
the left as far as T and remove it
downwards.
9. Knock the espresso powder out of the
filter2 and dispose of it in an organic
waste bin. If necessary, you can re-
move residues with a teaspoon.
10. Clean the filter2 and the portafilter16
and then dry them.
10.2 Extracting a double
espresso
Requirement: the device is ready to be used.
The LED rings17,18 are permanently lit.
1. For a double espresso or two cups of
espresso, use the filter1.
2. Insert the prepared portafilter16 with
the handle at T under the brewing
head14.
