Fabric Selection
Start your sewing by selecting the fabric that you will use.
Suggested fabrics for each fabric group you can choose from
are listed below.
Note: Some fabrics have excess dye which can cause discol-
oration on other fabrics or on your embroidery machine. This
discoloration may be very dicult or impossible to remove.
Fleece and denim fabric, especially red and blue, often contain
excess dye.
Note: If you suspect that your fabric/ready-to-wear garment
contains a lot of excess dye, always pre-wash it before embroi-
dering to prevent discoloration of your machine.
The dierence between woven and knit fabric is the way the
threads are put together. Woven fabrics are made of two thread
system, warp lengthwise and weft crosswise, that intersect at
right angles. A knit fabric is made of one thread system with
interlaced stitches. A knit fabric usually has stretch.
