8. If power draw is a consideration for using a master power cut-off then please note that the SR4 includes
built-in circuit protection that turns the SR4 off before it draws down the vehicle’s battery. This ensures
that the vehicle is not placed into a “failure to start” state due to reduced vehicle battery voltage.
9. If fire is a consideration for using a master power cut-off then please note that the power and ignition
sense cables of the SR4 include built-in fuse protection to reduce the likelihood that the cables can
overheat in excess of their designed operating temperature range.
10. The life of the Media Drive (where in use) may be reduced if there is not a constant 12/24 volts provided
to the SmartRecorder. These unexpected power losses can often be detected as “Power Loss” events in
the response center. Normal and expected behavior would only to see a power loss event when the
vehicle is in maintenance and the battery has been removed, not part of daily operation.
11. Firmware and set-point settings may not be adopted by the SmartRecorder.
12. On-demand and Extended Recording events may not off-load or fully off-load events.
13. If the SmartRecorder has in-vehicle network connectivity powered down due to MPC, the SmartRecorder
will not be able to connect and offload events even where connected directly to the battery.
14. Power losses to the controller during operation over time may have a detrimental effect on the SR's
Operating System where it is not allowed to shut down naturally.
15. When using a negative switched MPC that does NOT have SmartDrive 360 or other external electrical
components connected to the SmartDrive System, SmartDrive will recommend using the modified (non-
ground N type) cable. An updated VSA will be created to reflect this MPC configuration.
16. When Constant Power is removed from an SR4 that is powered up we expect the Sensor Bar LED 1 (Target
) will alternate Red and Green lights. The Controller’s Power LED will blink while the controller is
running on internal battery power.
17. When using negative switched MPC WITH 360 or other external electrical components connected to the
SmartDrive System, the customer must update their MPC to a positive disconnect.
