Tampering Indicators
While all reasonable effort is made to protect the unit from tampering, certain components remain a potential
tampering point. SmartDrive has identified the following areas as potential tampering points. Check the
following components for evidence of tampering.
Physical damage to components
1. Camera lens blocked or residue on lens
2. Broken or damaged camera mounts
3. Corrosion or water damage
4. Connections broken on controller box (Camera, Antenna, etc)
5. Sensor Bar removed from the window
6. Fuses removed from fuse holders
Cables and connectors to check
Certain components like cables and connectors remain a potential tampering point. Inspect the following
cables for possible cuts, crimps and sharp bends:
1. Forward-facing Camera cable (DCam-1)
2. Cab-facing Camera cable (DCam-2)
3. Keypad cable (If Applicable)
4. Ethernet main cable (If Applicable)
5. Sensor Bar and cable
6. OBD2, J1939, J1708 or hardwire cable
7. Inline fuse holders
Check the following wires to ensure that the proper connection to the vehicle electrical system was made.
1. Power - Constant 12 volts/red wire
2. Black Ground wire
3. Orange True Ignition Sense wire / orange wire
4. Vehicle ECU plug or OBD2 or Jplug. (Often disconnected by dealership/mechanics and not
reconnected or by drivers)
