SmartRecorder 4 Troubleshooting Guide
Extended Recording Media Drive
The Extended Recording Media Drive in the SmartRecorder 4 is an internal Solid State Drive. This
design change was made to increase the reliability and uptime of the Extended Recording feature.
Unlike with the SR3, the Extended Recording Media Drive is not field replaceable in the SR4. In the
rare event an Extended Recording Media Drive in an SR4 should reach the end of its useful life, a
controller replacement would be required.
If you feel there is an issue with the availability of Extended Recording Events you expect were
recorded but are not visible in the Order Events Page, please reach out to Technical Support after
filling out an Event Request Retrieval Form. This will provide our agents with critical information
required to investigate your request.

IMPORTANT: To ensure the life of your media drive, make sure it is installed in a vehicle providing
constant 12/24 volts. Frequent and recurring power loss events may damage the Media Drive or
impact its overall life.
