1. InterMotive Gateway Interlock
Certain vehicles may be equipped with an InterMotive Gateway Interlock. In 2010, InterMotive
implemented their Firmware Version# 4.0 which enables Compatibility Mode and should be
installed on some 2010, 2011 and later model year InterMotive systems. This firmware is designed
to enable compatibility between systems like SmartDrive. Prior to 2010, Intermotive interlocks
would result in the SmartDrive system going into Passive Mode where data collection is limited to
vehicle speed and VIN. To determine if the InterMotive system is compatible with SmartDrive,
contct Technical Support.
2. InPower Wheelchair Interlock
Certain vehicles may be equipped with an InPower Wheelchair Interlock System. These interlock
systems plug into the vehicle's OBDII port but do not provide a replicator. Our system WILL NOT
interface with this system and may lock the vehicles doors and shifter. DO NOT connect the
SmartRecorders ECU cable to the ECU port, these vehicles will all require a (Hardwire Only)
connection, please contact Technical Support for further assistance.
2013 and Newer Dodge Ram ProMasters:
The SmartRecorder does not support ODBII communication with these vehicles. The Event Player
will display ECU speed or RPM, (ex. RPM displays N/A and Speed displays Low Speed). This is due to
the vehicle using a format of CAN Bus data (extended 29-bit CAN identifier) commonly used in
European countries but is permissible in the US for OBDII systems. In order to ensure that we do not
adversely impact CAN communications, these vehicles will all require a (Hardwire Only) connection,
please contact Technical Support for further assistance.
2017 and Newer Freightliner Vehicles:
SmartDrive has received explicit details from Freightliner to NOT connect any device to the vehicles
9-Pin Diagnostic port due to potential damage occurring to the vehicle and innacurate vehicle data.
In order for SmartDrive to interface with these vehicles, specific 2-Pin or Splice Pack VID cables will
be required. If a 3
rd
party device is connected to the vehicles 9-Pin Diagnostic port, please contact
Technical Support for further assistance.
