you've already got selected as Wallpaper to appear behind the XMB.
5. Watch anything
❍ Convert movies to run on PS3 with Video9. Available for free from Red Kawa, it'll
convert avi, divx, mpg and other video formats to run on PS3.
6. Show the world your face
❍ Go to Avatar>Select and you should be able to select an image from your Photo library to
use as an Avatar (your online picture). Then you can show off your beautiful mug to the
world.
7. See it properly
❍ The video reset is the most important thing to remember when using your PS3. If you've
set it up for HD and taken it somewhere with a standard TV, simply shut the machine
down, then restart it holding the power button down until it beeps. This will reset it into
480p so you can pick your settings.
8. Smile
❍ …use emoticons. With the 1.92 firmware upgrade installed, select # on your keyboard in
chat, and you'll be given a list of smiley/angry/crazy faces to choose from.
9. Make extra space
❍ Want to use an external hard drive? As a general rule, if your PC recognizes a device
without installing anything, it'll work with PS3. If it doesn't work straight off you'll need to
format it by going to System Settings>Format Utility. This will erase the data, though.
10. Check pad charge…
❍ Check your Sixaxis' charge by tapping the PS Button. A battery icon should appear on
screen showing off your pad's power reserves.
