Maintenance
— 32 SPECTROLAB — 30.07.2015
The sparking process soils the spark stand with a black precipitate (metal
condensate). This metal condensate may create a conductive connection between
the electrode and the spark stand wall.
To clean the spark stand, proceed as follows:
1. Unscrew the 4 fasteners (1) and
remove the spark stand plate.
Fig. 10
2. Use a dry grease-free cloth to clean both sides of the spark stand plate.
3. Remove and clean the O-ring.
4. Remove the spacer.
5. Remove (see page 35) and clean the electrode.
If the electrode is worn, it must be replaced.
6. Use a vacuum to clean the electrode receiver bore in the electrode holder and
remove residual soiling in the electrode holder.
Ensure that the spring in the bore is not sucked out.
7. Use a cloth to clean the surface of the spark stand body.
8. Reinstall the components.
9. Clean the exhaust hose (see page 33).
10. Use in the spark stand plate to close the spark stand.
11. Set the electrode gap using the spacer (see page 35).
Cleaning of the spark stand is now complete.
