12.3 Soak Cycle Program
The factory- set
Soak Cycle
program is precedes normal washing and rinsing and is
intended for the processing of heavily-soiled instruments or as a quick wash process before
full cleaning.
Instruments go through a pre-wash stage in which they are washed and flushed using cold
water to dislodge visible soil and blood particles. The use of cold water during this stage
avoids blood clotting or the formation of protein prions. After pre- wash rinsing, the wash
stage commences immediately and the tank is refilled from hot and cold inlets and heated
to +40°C (+104°F). During the tank fill, chemical is dispensed. The Soak Cycle Wash stage
lasts 30 minutes, during which time ultrasonics and lumen flushing dislodge any remaining
particles on instruments. After wash stage, instruments are rinsed with cold water to
remove chemical and any remaining soil. On completion of rinsing, instruments are ready
for further washing and processing.
This wash program is locked and can only be adjusted by a manufacturer-approved service
technician.

A setting of 0 °C (+32 °F) is interpreted at 'temperature not important' by the equipment. The
tank will fill with water from the supply hoses, the equipment will not attempt to regulate the
incoming water temperature, or adjust the temperature of the water in the tank.
