Resolution Setting
In Figure B.13 we have overlaid the conven-
tional constant heating rate decompositions of
the bicarbonate mixture (curves a and b) with
dynamic rate Hi-Res
TM
scans at eight different
resolution settings (curves 1 through 8). All of
the Hi-Res
TM
scans were run at 50
°
C/minute with
the default sensitivity setting of 1.0. Note that
increasing resolution setting increases the
resolution of each transition and simultaneously
reduces the transition temperature. The initial
weight losses of approximately 1% on each
curve are due to the evaporation of surface water
absorbed by the mixture.
