CALIBRATION
PERFORMANCE
CHECK
PROCEDURE
Introduction
This procedure checks the electrical performance re-
quirements as listed in the Specification section in this man-
ual. Perform the internal adjustment procedure if the
instrument fails to meet these checks. If recalibration does
not correct the discrepancy, circuit troubleshooting is indi-
cated. Also, use this procedure to determine acceptability of
performance in an incoming inspection facility. For conve-
nience, many steps in this procedure check the performance
of this instrument at only one value in the specified perfor-
mance range. Any value within the specified range, within
appropriate limits, may be substituted. The performance
check may be done at any ambient temperature between
0°C and +50°C.
Test Equipment Required
The test equipment listed in Table
5-1,
or equivalent, is
suggested to do the performance check or the adjustment
procedure.
All steps in the Performance Check procedure may
be
performed with the PS 5010 in the power module. All steps
except source effect and transient recovery may be per-
formed with the instrument connected to the power module
through extender cables. See heading Adjustment Access
in
Internal Adjustment procedure later in this section for infor-
mation on extender cables.
Some steps in this procedure require resistors con-
nected to the front panel terminals. These resistors
can become hot under certain conditions. Do not
touch the resistors or allow them to contact the instru-
ment front panel or other material easily damaged by

heat.
