1.Lookatthesideofthebattery.Theelectrolytemust
beuptotheupperline(Figure39).Donotallowthe
electrolytetofallbelowtheLowerline(Figure39).

AddingWatertotheBattery
Thebesttimetoadddistilledwatertothebatteryisjust
beforeyouoperatethemachine.Thisletsthewatermix
thoroughlywiththeelectrolytesolution.
1.Removethebatteryfromthemachine;referto
RemovingtheBattery(page31).
Important:Neverllthebatterywithdistilled
waterwhilethebatteryisinstalledinthemachine.
Electrolytecouldbespilledonotherpartsand
causecorrosion.
2.Cleanthetopofthebatterywithapapertowel.
3.Removetheventcapsfromthebattery(Figure39).
4.Slowlypourdistilledwaterintoeachbatterycelluntil
theelectrolytelevelisuptotheUpperline(Figure39)
onthebatterycase.
Important:Donotoverllthebatterybecause
electrolyte(sulfuricacid)cancausesevere
corrosionanddamagetothechassis.
5.Waitfor5to10minutesafterllingthebatterycells.
6.Adddistilledwater,ifnecessary,untiltheelectrolyte
levelisuptotheUpperline(Figure39)onthebattery
case.
7.Installthebattery-ventcaps.
