1.DisengagethePTOandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Lifttheblackrubbercoveronthenegativecable.
Disconnectthenegativebatterycablefromthenegative
(-)batteryterminal(
Figure53).
4.Slidetheredterminalbootoffthepositive(red)battery
terminal.Thenremovethepositive(red)batterycable
(Figure53).
5.Removethebatteryholddownplate(Figure53)and
removethebattery.
InstallingtheBattery
1.Placethebatteryontothemachine(Figure53).
2.Securethebatterywiththeholddownplate,j-bolts,
andlocknuts.
3.First,installthepositive(red)batterycabletopositive
(+)batteryterminalwithanut,washerandbolt
(Figure53).Slidetherubbercoveroverthepost.
4.Theninstallthenegativebatterycableandgroundwire
tothenegative(-)batteryterminalwithanut,washer
andbolt(
Figure53).Slidetherubbercoveroverthe
post.

1.Removethebatteryfromthechassis;refertoRemoving
theBattery.
2.Checktheelectrolytelevel;refertoCheckingthe
ElectrolyteLevel.
3.Makesurethellercapsareinstalledinbattery.Charge
batteryfor1hourat25to30ampsor6hoursat4to
6amps.
4.Whenthebatteryisfullycharged,unplugthecharger
fromtheelectricaloutlet,thendisconnectthecharger
leadsfromthebatteryposts(
Figure54).
5.Installthebatteryontothemachineandconnectthe
batterycables,refertoInstallingtheBattery.
Note:Donotrunthemachinewiththebattery
disconnected,electricaldamagemayoccur.
