General rules for the safe service of the machine.
Lathe is the source of danger if controlled wrong. It means that the general rules and rules for safety manipulation are not
accepted in accordance with this Manual.
Basic procedure for the operator safety.
The operator safety is conditioned on complying with:
- the safety measures.
- the safety directions.
- the limitation of operating risks.
Safety measures for machine tool service:
- concerning the step speed changing.
This machine design allows of easy setting of single speed steps. For this reason, set up the machine at the speed for given
operation and do not change it when machining!
- concerning the main circular motion of workpiece.
There is a risk of winding on a rotary workpiece in course of machining. For this reason the recommended covers must be
applicated to prevent the admission into the dangerous working space. Vibrations and selfexcitation oscillations especially
in turning bars and asymmetrical pieces, can be another hazard. For this reason the workpiece must be jawed in a suitable
way and locked with rests.
Safety instructions for the lathe operator.
1. Keep the lathe and its work area clean and orderliness.
2. Make all protective covers into the correct (protective) possitions and close all lathe lids
and doors (e.g. the switchboard door).
3. Do not allow other articles, except for ones that perform a function, to be placed in the space of tool feed or table rotation.
4. Do not touch the rotaring or moving parts of lathe.
5. Be assured how to stop the lathe before its starting
6. Lathe should be operated in the operating mode for each set case for machining.
7. Do not wear rings, watches and straps in service and put on the prescribed work clothing with buttoned sleeves, suitable
work shoes and protective hair covering.
8. In case of an accident the machine must be stopped immediately.
9. Never change jaw chucks, face plate or other spindle attachements without their checking and correct location.
10. It is necessary to use only the working devices which are described in this Manual.
11. Consider the correct application of centres from point of view of supposed working load.
12. Stop the lathe if no operator!
Operating risks connected with using face plate.
If the face plate is in operation, the following risk factors according to EN 292 can be occurred:
compress risk (crushing down).
catch risk.
draw and drip risk.
risk caused by shooting exchange or moving parts up.
