10. Erection of Lathe and its Putting into Operation.
10.1. Building of foundation.
(fig. 10.1)
The erection of the lathe in the acurate position on the foundation has a substantial effect on the acuracy of work. Therefore
a firm foundation has to be built in due time before the erection of the lathe. The depth of the excavation depends on the
local bearing power of the soil and should be sufficient to prevent settling of the foundation under the mass of the lathe. The
foundation is to be built according to Fig.10.1 of rammed concrete and if necessary the bearing value of the soil may be
increased by ramming and by a layer of gravel.
The proportion of the concrete mixture should be from 1:4 to 1:5.
10.2. Erection on Foundation.
Parts neccesary for levelling and fixing the lathe on the foundation.
1. Foundation bolts M 30 x 500 (number according to Fig. 10.1)
2. Nuts M 30 (number according to Fig. 10.1)
3. Washers 70 x 90 x 20 mm (number according to Fig. 10.1)
4. A water level of the precision of 1 division = 0,05 mm per meter of lenght
5. A checking arbor from 300 to 500 mm long with 80 mm metric taper
6. A dial gauge of the precision of 1 division - 0,01 mm.
Warning:
The parts necessary for the levelling and fixing of the lathe on the foundation are supplied with the machine.
After right hardening of the foundation, the erection of the lathe may be preceeded with.
Procedure for lathe erection on foundation:
Foundation bolts should be inserted into the holes in the foundation.
Before the lathe is set on the foundation the position of steel washers is to be adjusted and the foundation bolts should be
passed through the holes.
The lathe should be lowered on the foundation.
The lathe is roughly levelled by means of adjusting screws in flanges of the bed.
The holes with the foundation bolts are grouted with cement mortar.
The machine is partly screwed on the foundation with foundation bolts.
The machine is levelled by means of adjusting and balance screws in accordance with the precision test record of
machine (geometric precision part).
The lathe thus levelled is secured to the foundation by means of foundation screws.
Dismount the transport locking parts
Screw on the arm of supply cable to the tailstock
The cable troughs are screwed into carriage.
The electric cable is placed and checkedright function cable trucks.
Connect cables in the switch board and cover with guard..
Lathe is to be connected to the mains.
The operation of the machine is tested step by step WITHOUT LOAD
Precision of lathe is checked against the precision test record.
The machine is grouted with thin cement mortar.
