Then a portion of a VIF and ATA is needed for WIP calls and the number of panels
to which All-Call is transmitted counts towards the number of PIBs needed.
If:
“Receives Paging Console audio from other fibre connected panels to amplifiers at
this panel” is ticked, or
“Number of fibre connected panels to which this panel transmits Paging Console
audio” is non-zero;
Then a portion of VIF and ATA is needed for paging console audio and the number
of panels to which paging console audio is transmitted counts towards the number of
PIBs needed.
If:
“Receives Music from other fibre connected panels to amplifiers at this panel” is
ticked, or
“Number of fibre connected panels to which this panel transmits Music audio” is non-
zero;
Then a portion of a VIF and ATA is needed for music and the number of panels to
which music is transmitted counts towards the number of PIBs needed.
The Fibre Networking Kit provides the first VIF, ATA, and PIB. If the number of
portions of VIF & ATA is greater than 1, then a second VIF and ATA will be needed.
For every 31 nodes above the first 31 that can have Speech, All-Call, Music and
Paging audio sent to, add an extra PIB. If the number of PIBs exceeds 3, a 5-port
Ethernet switch will need to be added.
VoIP Design Procedure
This section outlines the general procedure for designing the VoIP system.
Allocate a 2-digit SID to each QE20 panel (20 – 89 is suggested to leave some SID
numbers for fire panels on the same network). Allocate IP addresses to each of the
fibre networking components (refer section 3.3).
For each QE20, determine how many other panels will need to make Speech and
WIP VoIP calls to this panel at the same time. Refer to section 3.4.4.
For each panel, if it needs to receive or send BGM or paging audio over the fibre
network, determine how many other panels will need to receive background music
and paging audio from this panel at the same time. Refer to sections 3.4.3 and 3.4.4.
This will determine the number of Speech (PA) lines and WIP lines required and
from that the number of VIF modules, ATAs, and PIB VoIP Proxy modules required.
Then, design the dialling schemes so that the panel being configured can call each
of the other panels it needs to call. The recommended principle is that the QE20
should transmit a 2-digit ‘phone number’ to the ATA, and the ATA convert this phone
number to a URI that will address the required line of the ATA or PIB VoIP proxy at
each remote QE20.
See the “Recommended Dial Plans” in section 3.5.2. For receiving All-Call use dial
numbers 90-99 and enter specific mapping to the panels that need to send All-Call
audio here.
