QE20 Fibre Networking User Manual Document: LT0732
Page 5-2 24 May 2023 Issue 1.0
The “Relay” contacts are normally energised by the switch so are closed, opening for
a ring fault, switch failure, or power loss.
Any additional Fibre Switches should have their “Relay” contacts wired in series with
the first, so that any fibre switch opening its “Relay” contacts will create an open
circuit and cause a fault on the PIB.
5.1.4 ATA Phone Lines
The PA Line 1 J1 and WIP Line 1 J4 RJ11 connectors of the VIF Module are
connected to the Phone 1 and Phone 2 ports of the corresponding ATA using RJ11
phone cables (straight through connections).
Fault Wiring : VoIP Proxy Only PIBs
For a PIB that is performing Panel-Link networking for the QE20 it is not necessary
to connect its fault output directly to the QE20. This is because the RS485 Network
Module will request the PIB status and indicate a fault if this not received or the PIB
is indicating a fault condition is present.
However, PIBs that are being used for only VoIP proxy functionality (the Panel-Link
networking is not utilised) must have their fault outputs monitored. OC2 on the PIB is
normally turned on, going open on fault or power fail.
The fault output OC2 of each such PIB must be connected to the FAS1 Fault input of
a preceding PIB. The OC2 Fault output of this PIB should be wired at the end of the
Moxa “Relay” chain, so that it provides a connection to 0V when normal for the Moxa
switches and the first (Panel-Link Networking) PIB FAS1 input.
The additional PIBs will also require:
24V DC power as per Section 5.2.1.
Ethernet connection to an ATA or Moxa Fibre Switch as per Section 5.2.2.
Additional VIF & ATA Wiring
If an additional ATA and VIF are required for extra network audio functions (e.g.,
background music and paging), then connect the Music and Paging audio signals to
the PA and WIP inputs of the VIF.
Connect 24V to the VIF, and 5V DC Power, and the phone lines from the VIF to the
ATA as described in Section 5.2.1 and shown in general on drawing 1922-197 Sheet
2.
