PIB Configuration
3.1.16 General
For details refer to the PIB User Manual (LT0519). The PIB must have V4.0 or higher
firmware.
Do not select Use DHCP for IP Settings as a fixed IP address is required for QE20
networking and the VoIP proxy functionality.
When the VoIP proxy functionality is used without a Panel-Link networking device
attached (i.e., all other PIBs than the first) the UDP Port should be set to a different
port number to the Panel-Link PIBs to effectively disable Panel-Link networking.
In the VoIP Proxy configuration section, for each channel that is to be enabled, enter
the SIP URI of the audio source. The default codec choice of G.729 should be
changed to match the ATA e.g., G.711 µ-Law.
3.1.17 Steps for Setting Up PIB
There are two main stages to setting up a PIB.
1) Reset the PIB to factory defaults and program the assigned IP address and
other networking parameters. This needs to be done only once.
2) Configure the PIB over the network using its built-in web server.
These are covered in the following sections.
3.1.18 Reset PIB to Factory Defaults & Assign IP Address
The steps to reset a PIB to its factory defaults and program its required IP address
and network settings are as follows. These should be used for a new PIB or a
replacement PIB.
Connect a PC to the PIB’s RS232 port J22 with a null modem cable (LM0076)
and using a serial port terminal program (QE20Config, SmartConfig,
Wincomms) open the serial port with a setting of 38400, 8 data bits, No parity,
1 Stop Bit.
Fit a mini jumper to SERIAL DIAG/DOOR” J10 and leave DHCP SERVER/
TAMPER” J13 open.
Hold down the RSSI button, then power up the PIB. Release the RSSI button
after the Run LED LD3 on the PIB starts flashing. The PC terminal should
show PIB power up messages.
