5. Wiring
Fibre Network Kit to QE20 Connections
Installation and wiring of the Fibre Networking Kit is detailed in FP2024/2025 QE20
Fibre Network Kit Installation Instructions (LT0714).
The QE20 Fibre Network Kit requires:
• 24V DC power to be supplied from a PSE.
• A 4-way loom carrying PA & WIP audio to the VIF to be plugged into J11 VIF
on the RS485 Network Module.
• The 2-way loom to be plugged into J5 QECOMMS+- on the RS485 Network
Module.
• The 10-way header loom to be plugged into J3 TTL SERIAL on the RS485
Network Module.
Drawing 1922-197 Sheet 2 (included in this manual) details the wiring connections
between the Fibre Network Kit and the RS485 Network Module, and the internal
wiring of the Fibre Network Kit.
Internal Wiring of Fibre Network Kit
5.1.1 Power
24V DC power is wired to the 24V terminals of the PIB, “PWR1” terminals of the
Moxa fibre switch, and 24V J12 on the VIF.
+5V DC power for each ATA is wired from the +5V outputs of the VIF (J13, J14) to
each ATA “DC 5V Power” socket using a 2-way loom with suitable connectors.
5.1.2 Ethernet
The ATAs are programmed to operate in Bridge mode, with their Ethernet port
connected to the Internet port. So, a number of ATAs can be connected in series.
The PIB that is used for Panel-Link networking should be connected to the last ATA
so that it monitors the ATA units for network connectivity and functionality.
Disconnection or failure of any ATA will then cause the PIB to stop receiving
messages and thus generate faults for the QE20 network.
The “Ethernet” RJ45 connector J2 on the PIB is wired to the “Ethernet” RJ45
connector on the ATA using a short RJ45 cable. Connect another short RJ45
Ethernet cable from the ATA’s “Network” socket to the Ethernet port of the next ATA
or to one of the RJ45 connectors “1’, “2”, or “3” on the fibre switch.
Additional ATAs or PIBs can be connected to the other Ethernet RJ45 ports of the
fibre switch.
5.1.3 Fibre Switch Relay Output
The “Relay” output of the Moxa Fibre Switch must be wired to the FAS1 & 0V input
of the PIB so that a fault on the fibre ring is signalled to the PIB and onto the QE20
for annunciation.
