5.9 Using the Handpieces and the Surgical Interface

NOTICE
Possible damage to handpieces if not stored properly
The handpieces are delicate and may break if they fall down.
f Use the handpieces with care and always store the handpieces in the pro-
vided box when they are not in use.
NOTICE
Possible damage to surgical interface head through
foreign objects
Highly sensitive electronics are located under the mechanical eye that may get
severely damaged if touched.
f Never touch the internal parts of the surgical interface head.
f Under no circumstances allow objects or liquids to enter the surgical inter-
face heads.
• Do not open the mechanical eye’s felt coverings.
• Never use the handpieces as tools to manipulate the surgical interface heads.
• Introduce the handpieces into the silicon ports of the eye with great care.
• If you encounter significant resistance when introducing the handpieces into the
mechanical eye, do not use force.
• Never leave the handpieces hanging unsupported in the silicon ports. Remove
the handpieces completely when you are not working with them.
• If one of the silicon ports has fallen out or has fallen into the surgical interface
head, contact VRmagic technical service.
