5-72 Maintenance Procedures
Replacing the ion block source heater
Replace the ion block source heater if it fails to heat when the instrument is
pumped down (evacuated).
Required materials:
Chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves
Needle-nose pliers
1.5-mm and 2.5-mm Allen wrenches
To replace the ion block source heater
1. Remove the ion block assembly from the instrument (see “Removing the
ion block assembly from the source assembly” on page 5-29).
2. Ensure that the isolation valve is closed.
Warning: The ion block assembly can be contaminated with
biohazardous and/or toxic materials. Always wear
chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves while performing this
procedure.
