Note: Before you can operate the valve, you must enable it using the column-selection
valve switch located on the 30-cm CH or 30-cm CHC module's rear panel. For enabling
instructions, see the section "Enabling the column-selection valve".

Enabling the column-selection valve
After installing the valve within the column compartment, you must enable it using the column-
selection valve switch located on the 30-cm CH or 30-cm CHC module's rear panel. Addressing
the switch sets the internal electronics to enable communication between the valve controls and
the instrument control software. The settings for the switch are provided in the table, below.

Small, flat-head screwdriver
To enable the column-selection valve:
1. Power-off the sample manager and, if applicable, power-off the 30-cm CHC module by its
on/off switch or by removing the power cord from its power-entry module.
2. Locate the column-selection valve switch on the 30-cm CH or 30-cm CHC module's rear
panel.
