3-6 Troubleshooting, Testing, and Maintenance
Considerations
When troubleshooting high system pressure, consider these:
Origin of the high pressure
Whether the pressure increase was gradual or sudden
Location of pressure buildup
To correct the high pressure condition, first isolate the part of the system in
which the high pressure originates.
Gradual pressure increase
Sample or mobile phase particulates can increase pressure gradually over
several injections.
Sudden pressure increase
These problems can cause pressure to rise suddenly:
Particulates in one sample
Hardware malfunction
See the following figure to determine what can cause high system pressure.
