Advanced Phone Features 
This chapter explains how to use the advanced features on the IP phone. Topics include:

Busy Lamp Field (BLF) 
You can use BLF to monitor a specific line for status changes on the phone. For example, you 
can configure a BLF key on the phone to monitor the status of a friend’s line (busy or idle). The 
BLF key LED glows red when the friend’s line is in use. 
You can also enable visual and audio alert features for BLF pickup on the phone. 
You can use the BLF key to do the following: 
  Placing a call to the monitored user 
  Transferring a call to the monitored user 
  Pick up an incoming call of the monitored user 
  Parking a call to/retrieving a parked call from the monitored user 
Configuring a BLF Key 
You can configure a BLF key to monitor a specific line for status changes on the phone. You can 
also initiate an outgoing intercom call to the monitored user, or assign a pick up code for BLF 
key first to pick up an incoming call of the monitored user. Check with your system 
administrator to find out if these features are available on your phone. 
Procedure: 
1.  Navigate to Menu->Features->DSS Keys.
