4.3.8 Cascaded domain connection by L3SW
This section explains a sample configuration for a cascaded domain connection by the
Recommended L3SWs. A sample diagram of the Vnet/IP network is as shown below.

The same IP address is assigned to the same port of Recommended L3SW by default. In case
of the above example, IP address conflict occurs at the cascaded point of L3SWs where each
L3SW has the same IP address (192.168.3.253) by default.
Therefore the IP address assigned to either L3SW-1 or L3SW-2 of Port 3 must be changed to a
unique address resolve this IP address conflict.
An example of the IP address assignment for L3SW-2 is as shown below.
The IP address assignment for L3SW-2
• BUS1 of Port 3: 192.168.3.252
• BUS2 of Port 3: 192.168.131.252
In case of the cascaded domain, unused ports of each Recommended L3SW has to be disabled
in order to prevent accidental happenings due to wrong connections.
When port 5 of L3SW-1 is still enabled in the above Vnet/IP network and if the port becomes link-
up due to wrong connection, the inter domain communication will fail because of a wrong routing
table entry.
TIP
Recommended L3SW does not register link-down ports to its routing table. Clearing the assigned IP address for
the disabled ports is not required.
