SettingFAULTterminalaction
In case an L2SW is assigned as a ring manager, FAULT terminal output has to be set when a ring
network failure is detected. For how to add the ring network status as a subject for monitoring of
the FAULT terminal (*1) is explained as follows.
F040318.ai
(Hirschmann MACH) #configure
(Hirschmann MACH) (Config)#signal-contact 1 monitor hiper-ring enable
(Hirschmann MACH) (Config)#exit
In the default setting, the FAULT terminal monitors only power supply, and the terminal is set in
short circuit under the normal operation. By changing the setting as explained above, the FAULT
terminal becomes open not only when the power supply failure is detected but also when the ring
network failure is detected. Once the failure is recovered in the ring network, the FAULT terminal
recovers to the short-circuit status.
*1: Out of the two FAULT terminals provided for dual-power supply model of MAR1040 family, the above setting is applicable to
the FAULT terminal 1. For this model, FAULT terminal 1 can be assigned for power supply failure and FAULT terminal 2 for
monitoring the ring network status by changing the number assignment of the command terminal from “1” to “2.”
“Show signal-contact” command shall be used for confirming the setting status of the FAULT
terminal action. An example is as shown below after the “show signal-contact” command is
executed.
F040319.ai
(Hirschmann MACH) #show signal-contact
Signal Contact 1, mode......................... Auto
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'ACA not in sync'.... Disabled
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'ACA removal'........ Disabled
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'Connection error'... Disabled
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'HIPER Ring'......... Enabled
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'Module removal'..... Disabled
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'Power supply 1'..... Enabled
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'Power supply 2'..... Disabled
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'Ring/Netw. coupl.'.. Disabled
Signal Contact 1, monitor 'Temperature'........ Disabled
Signal Contact 1, state (manual setting)....... Open (does not take effect)
Signal Contact 1, state (operating, current)... Closed
Signal Contact 1, trap......................... Disabled
<Ditto for Signal Contact 2>
“Show signal-contact all state” command is used to confirm short circuit/open status of the FAULT
terminal. An example is as shown below after the “show signal-contact all state” command is
executed.
F040320.ai
(Hirschmann MACH) #show signal-contact all state
Signal Contact 1, state (manual setting)....... Open (does not take effect)
Signal Contact 1, state (operating, current)... Closed
<Ditto for Signal Contact 2>
Saving changes in settings
When setting for each of the L2SW is completed, save all the settings to a non-volatile memory
by using the “copy system: running-config nvram:startup-config” command.
