Introduction

Laser Scanning
The device with an optional RS4000 laser scanner has the following features:
Reading of a variety of bar code symbologies, including the most popular linear and 1D code types.
Advanced intuitive laser aiming for easy point-and-shoot operation
Adaptive scanning.
Scanning Bar Codes
NOTE: Scanning procedures depend on the application and device configuration. An application may use
different scanning procedures from the one listed below.
Imaging
The device with an optional RS507, RS5000 or RS6000 imager has the following features:
Omnidirectional (360°) reading of a variety of bar code symbologies, including the most popular linear,
postal, PDF417, and 2D matrix code types.
Advanced intuitive laser aiming for easy point-and-shoot operation.
The imager uses imaging technology to take a picture of a bar code, stores the resulting image in its
memory, and executes state-of-the-art software decoding algorithms to extract the bar code data from the
image.
