9.5 Parallel UPS connections
To ensure protection of personnel during the in-
stallation of UPS make sure that the connections
are performed under the following conditions:
• No mains voltage is present
• All Loads are shut down and disconnected
• UPS units are shut down and voltage-free
• UPS Modules are fitted in correct position
• External Maintenance Bypass is open and in
the OFF position
• Remove terminal cover of the UPS units
• Connect the ground-wire coming from the lo-
cal power grid source to the terminal X7-PE
(PE) of each UPS units in the parallel system.
9.5.1 Input & output connections
The input and output UPS connections in a paral-
lel system shall be implemented as the stand-
alone UPS connection described in chapter 9.4.
9.5.2 Communication connection
If the UPS system consists of parallel UPS units,
the installation of the “parallel cable” between
them is required as follow:
1. Start connecting one end of the parallel cable
to JD1 connector mounted on the first UPS unit
2. Connect the other end of the parallel cable to
JD2 connector mounted on the second UPS
unit.
3. If more UPS units are present on the parallel
system, continue connecting the additional
parallel cables on the same way until the last
one.
4. The last parallel UPS unit must be connected to
the first UPS unit (JD1 to JD2) to close the ring
communication bus.
