RTD based Temperature Supervision and Analog Inputs
This section describes the supervision functions available together with the analog input module. The process values and genera-
ted diagnosis and trip information are available via fieldbus and LCD panel. The AI111 can operate in two modes. Use the tempera-
ture mode for supervision of three temperature values connected to the same type of sensor. Use the universal mode for full flexi-
bility with different sensors connected to the analog inputs. Two AI111 can be connected to a UMC100. Both modules can be
configured independently from each other.
The following functions are described in this section:
• Using the analog input module in temperature mode
• Using the analog input module in universal mode
The following process data are available:
Process Value Explanation Data range
AI value Measured value of the channels one to three of the two analog
input modules (six values).
Kelvin (temperature mode)
Raw value (universal mode)
T
max
Max value of the three channels of an analog input module in
temperature mode
Kelvin (temperature mode)
In section 2 -> Connecting the Analog Input Module you will find information on how to mount and connect the analog
input module.
All process values generated from the analog module can be used in the Custom Application Editor. Consult the
editor's manual for more information.
Before using the analog module set the following parameters:
• AM1, AM2 Mode
• Channel Type (only for channel one in Temperature Mode)
• AM1/2 enabled. If the module is enabled the UMC monitors the presence of the module and creates by default a
fault in the event that the module is missing (-> parameter 'Missing Module Reaction').
Temperature Mode
In temperature mode the analog input module measures three temperatures in two or three wire mode. The same sensor type and
temperature range is used for all three inputs. The max. temperature of the three inputs is calculated and compared to the user de-
fined warn - and trip level. In case the max. temperature rises above the configured levels a warn or trip is triggered. In temperature
mode the parameters of channel one define the behaviour of all the three channels of a module. Typical usage: winding or bearing
temperature supervision.
