Do you have a question about the ABB Uvisor SF910i and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Uvisor™ SF910i Integrated SafeFlame Scanner is an advanced instrument designed for reliable flame detection and analysis in combustion systems, forming a crucial part of a boiler or furnace safety system. Its primary function is to identify potentially dangerous "Flame-Out" conditions on both ignition and main flames. The SF910i boasts an "Integrated" architecture, meaning all electronics, from the sensor(s) to the wiring terminals (or quick-release connector), including the processing unit, relays, and communication ports, are contained within the scanner enclosure. This integrated design offers several advantages over conventional split architectures, such as a reduced part count, lower system and installation costs, no need for dedicated control room cabinets, reduced cabling, and a more efficient use of natural resources.

Function Description:

The SF910i digitizes the flame signal 2,000 times per second, using proprietary analysis algorithms to measure flame characteristics. It can be configured to detect flames based on various parameters and operating modes, including Corner, Wall/Industrial, Lighter, and Turbine applications. The device offers both Line Of Sight (LOS) for direct flame view and Fiber Optic Cable (FOC) for indirect flame view through an optical cable, accommodating different burner arrangements and fuel types. The SF910i can be equipped with diverse sensor types, including IR (Infrared), UV (Ultraviolet), UVIR (UV IR Dual Sensor), and PYR (Dual IR Sensor), with the PYR version enabling real-time flame temperature measurement.

For dual sensor modules, an "Alternative Flame Logic" allows configuring the unit to vote flame conditions by calculating an OR or an AND of the flame condition detected independently by the two sources. The SF910i also features a continuous self-check on the incoming flame signal(s) to prevent electrical values inconsistent with a "real" flame from being processed, thus ensuring safe operation. It can detect frequency values that are too stable to be generated by a flame, indicating potential electrical noise or a fault in the sensor electronics.
