4 Monitoring during operation / 4.1 Oil pressure, oil temperature

If the turbocharger has been operated for a longer period of time outside the admissible

range, ABB Turbocharging recommends having the turbocharger inspected by an ABB Tur-

bocharging Service Station.

4.1.1 Pre-lubrication and post-lubrication

CAUTION

Pre-lubrication

Serious damage to engine or property can result if the turbocharger is not

supplied with oil from the first moment after starting the engine.

u Activate the pre-lubrication device each time before starting the engine.

The pre-lubrication time is at least 5 minutes.

The post-lubrication time is at least 10 minutes.

If the engine is operated for 5 to 10 minutes in idle mode before stopping, no additional

post-lubrication is required.
