Do not tip, store, or ship the instrument without following these
steps. Shipping damage and/or liquid spillage which must be
cleaned out at the factory necessitates costly, time consuming ser-
vice.
The 4C3 must be shipped using the carton and shipping material
provided; if you have not saved your 4C3 carton, you may request
one from Advanced Instruments or its authorized representative.
All shipments to Advanced Instruments must be prepaid. Collect
shipments will not be accepted without prior approval. We recom-
mend that you insure your shipment, as we cannot accept responsi-
bility for damage incurred in shipping.
D. Routine maintenance
Daily: You should perform calibration and repeatability tests to
keep your 4C3 in peak condition. Readings each day on
separate aliquots of the same standards should not deviate
beyond the repeatability and drift limits indicated in the
product specifications in Appendix B.
As required, replace:
• Probe wipers: The probe wiper sponges should be replaced
when they begin to appear dirty (about every 50 tests).
• Drip catcher sponge: The drip catcher sponge should be
replaced when it becomes dirty, worn or ineffective.
• Heat-transfer fluid: Because heat transfer fluid will evaporate
from the well and droplets will cling to the sample tubes as
they are removed, the heat transfer fluid should be drained and
replaced at least every two months as follows:
CAUTION The heat transfer fluid contains hazardous chemicals.
Consult the material safety data sheet (MSDS) and use
appropriate personal protective equipment.
1. Connect the quick-connect connector and short length
of tubing supplied with the 4C3 to the reservoir drain port in the
back panel of the instrument.
