Error Possible cause/Suggested action
No communication
with external
computer
Cause: Cable is unplugged
Action: Plug in cable
Cause: Ethernet cable is damaged
Action: Replace cable
Cause: Ethernet connector is
damaged
Action: Service the instrument to
replace connector
Barcode scanner does
not function
Cause: Cable is unplugged
Action: Secure the cable.
If scanner does not function, you can
manually enter IDs and other relevant
information
LCD display screen is
dark, unreadable.
Cause: Display backlight cable
connection
Touch panel does not
respond to button
presses
Cause: Touch panel adjustment
Action: If response is not restored.
Cause: If response is not restored, see
Contacting Advanced Instruments.
No power, or abrupt
loss of power (no
display)
Cause: Power availability
Action: Temporarily unplug the power
cord from its wall outlet and replace it
with a known workable lamp or other
appliance. If no power is present, have
the power restored.
Cause: Power connection to grid
Action: Unplug the power cord from
the power cord socket. Measure the
AC voltage supplied at the end of the
cord that will be connected to the
product.
Cause: Power connection to product
Action: Make sure the power cord is
firmly plugged into the socket on the
back of the product.
Cause: Fuse check
Action: Unplug the power cord from
the power entry module. Use a small
screwdriver to pry out the fuse holder.
Visually check the two 5 mm x 20 mm
fuses for a blown fuse If there is any
doubt, test the fuses with a continuity
checker or ohmmeter, or simply
replace them. Also check the values
marked on the fuses to make sure that
they are the correct rating for the
product. If a fuse was blown and a
replacement blows too, contact
Advanced Instruments Product
Service Department for assistance.
Error Possible cause/Suggested action
No power, or abrupt
loss of power (no
display)
Cause: Power supply
Action: Check for AC line voltage
present at power supply input and 24
volts DC at power supply output.
Cause: Circuit board connections
Action: Check that all connectors to
the computer module are properly
connected and that there are no
damaged wires. Firmly insert all
connectors. If wiring damage has
occurred, contact Advanced
Instruments Product Service
Department for assistance.
If cause is not identified, see
Contacting Advanced Instruments.
No response when
Start switch pressed
Cause: Start switch cable connection
Action: Verify that the Start switch
cable is properly attached to the
computer module.
Cause: Worn out switch
Action: Press and hold the Start
switch while instrument powers up.
Perform touch screen calibration.
Action: Replace Start switch
Worn or damaged keys
