4. Testing and calibration
The user can perform sample tests using one of two different loading methods:
• Loading samples onto the turntable when the turntable is installed on the instrument.
• Loading samples onto the turntable when the turntable is removed from the instrument.
This section explains the different loading processes in detail. The loading process can
also vary based on User ID and Sample ID settings.
To run the instrument properly, it is important to read and adhere to the instructions in this
section.
WARNING: Handle all biohazardous materials per established good laboratory
practices and follow your institutions exposure control plan. Persons handling human
blood and body fluid samples must be trained in bloodborne hazards and observe
universal precautions. Universal precautions are an approach to infection control, where all
human blood and body fluids are treated as if known to be infectious. Use personal protective
equipment such as gloves, gowns, etc., to prevent exposure. Store biohazardous materials in
regulated waste containers and dispose of these materials in a safe and acceptable manner in
compliance with all country, state and local requirements.
WARNING: It is important the user always pays close attention to the status of the
instrument, (located in the top right hand corner of the display.) If the status shows
TESTING it is not safe to remove the turntable.
Do not place hands on or near the turntable when status is TESTING.
NEVER remove the turntable while the status is TESTING. This can potentially damage the
instrument and risks the safety of the user.
The instrument may look as if it is not testing, or as if it completed a test; never assume the
instrument finished testing. Always check to see if the status is READY before removing the
turntable from the instrument.
If a biohazardous material is spilled on or inside the equipment, decontaminate the equipment
using a 1% bleach solution, or as outlined by policies and procedures established within your
institution.
• To avoid injury or fire hazard, do not operate this product in an explosive atmosphere.
• Use caution and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when the turntable is
removed from the instrument. Placing hands into the opening could result in skin
punctures or other injuries.
