It is recommended that treating physicians familiarize themselves with RF and ablative treatments
based on clinical literature. These general guidelines are not intended to be a substitute for clinical
education, judgment, and/or experience of the physician.
D.11 Treatment Protocol
Prior to Treatment day
Pretreatment with topical hydroquinone, Tretinoin and or/glycolic acid preparations for skin types III- IV
may be helpful in reducing the potential risk of post-skin resurfacing hyperpigmentation.
Prophylactic oral antiviral agents may be helpful for the prevention of facial Herpes Simplex Virus 1
(HSV-1) reactivation until full re-epithelialization occurs. It is generally recommended to begin
prophylactic antiviral agents 24 hours prior to RF resurfacing and continuing as described by the agent
protocol.
Treatment Day
1. Perform a medical history assessment and check for contraindications.
2. Standardize photography conditions and take photographs.
3. Situate the patient in a position where the area which they wish to treat is most accurately assessed and
featured; sitting upright position for facial treatments.
4. Remove all jewelry or pendants including necklaces, earrings, piercings, etc.
5. Remove all makeup, moisturizers or oils from the treatment area.
6. Inspect the entire applicator, giving special attention to the tip to identify any damage or pulverized
materials.
7. Turn the system on and select the desired tip on the control panel.
8. In Standby mode set the initial energy levels and exposure time according to the skin test, treatment area,
and clinical indication.
9. Set the system to Ready mode.
10. Place the applicator perpendicular to the skin. Apply pressure as needed.
Warning
Do not apply gel or oil to the skin prior to treatment.
11. Press the trigger or footswitch to commence the treatment.
