2.1 Symbols and signal words used
This manual uses the following symbols and signal words to indicate hazards or in-
structions. The safety instructions are always placed before an action.
WARNING
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation.
If it is not prevented death or most serious injuries (incapacitation) can result.
CAUTION
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation.
Unless avoided light or minor injuries may result.
CAUTION! Hot surface!
Touching the hot surface can cause burns.
WARNING! Danger of electric shock if touched!
Electrical voltages present a danger of ele
ctrical shock.
BIOLOGICAL HAZARD
This symbol indicates that precautions must be taken when working with potentially infectious
material.
NOTICE
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which might cause material or environmental dam-
age.
