2.1 exteRnal coMponents oF tHe MecHelle
This section outlines the main components and features of the Mechelle.

Input Interface (Shutter Housing)
For coupling to optical source via a bre-optic and/or slit. A shutter can be built into the housing as an option (e.g.
for CCD cameras to avoid image smearing during readout or for ICCD cameras to take background or protect the
photocathode between experiments).
Shutter Cable Connection
For connection of the temperature sensor and optional shutter to the detector.
Carrying Handles
Two handles can be used to transport the Mechelle and fold down when not in use.
Camera Mounting Flange
For connection to camera e.g. Andor iStar CCD or sCMOS (4 off, 6/32 x 3/8 UNC).
Support Feet
Two support feet provide a stable platform for the Mechelle. These can be secured to an optical bench or removed.
