SECTION 3: INSTALLING THE MECHELLE SPECTROGRAPH
3.1 unpacking & Handling
Carefully remove the Mechelle from its packaging. Refer to the packing list to conrm all components are correct and
undamaged. Allow the spectrograph to sit in the laboratory environment for a couple of hours to adapt to the ambient
temperature.
3.2 attacHing tHe caMeRa and caMeRa alignMent pRoceduRe
NOTE: If you have purchased an Andor camera (such as the iStar) with your Mechelle spectrograph, it is normally
attached and pre-aligned at the factory.

1. If the camera is not attached, or has been removed the camera must be aligned and focused again when it is
put back on.
2. Attach the camera to the mounting ange - 4 off, 6/32 x 3/8 UNC (refer to your camera manual).
3. Loosen the grub screws (x3) and the cap head screw (x1) located on the top, bottom and one side of the camera
ange.
