NOTE: Please see laser safety advice at beginning of user guide.
To increase the light collection efciency (F/# or N.A.) of the Mechelle, a UV-NIR achromatic collecting/collimating lens/
mirror system, the CC52, has been designed. It has been optimised to ensure that all photons with wavelengths in the
range 200 - 950 nm are collected at a high F/2 aperture and ‘squeezed’ into the Mechelle F/7 aperture.

Parameter Specication
F/number 2
Focal Length 52 mm
Aperture 30 mm
Object Distance 200 mm to Innity
Wavelength Range 200 - 950 nm
Fibre Optics Connector Standard SMA
Items Included 3V adapter
An alignment laser is also provided with the CC52. When coupled to the collector / collimator, the user can optimize the
light collection from a precise point in the sample/experiment where the laser spot is best focused. After optimization,
the bre is disconnected from the laser and coupled to the Mechelle input.
• To focus the CC52 loosen the locking screw and move the bre coupler in and out inside CC52 to achieve the
smallest laser spot at the sample and collection area of interest. If the light source is at 50 cm or more from
CC52, remove the front lens from the CC52.
• Remember to lock the position by tightening the locking screw.
NOTE: These accessories are not provided as standard with the Mechelle spectrograph and must be ordered
separately.
