Click the
button on the main window and the Select Calibration File dialog box will appear:
Start the calibration procedure by selecting the 1lines calibration le and a large search window as shown in the image
below. The les with higher number of lines will be used sequentially as calibration progresses successfully.
The Search window size option denes the side of the area (in pixels) that the software will use to search for a the
position of a spectral line contribution on the echellogramme image. Based on the previous or default calibration, the
program will look for each calibration line within the dened search area.
If too low a number is selected, the calibration procedure may not nd some of the calibration lines. Too large a number
increases the risk of teh software nding the wrong line.
If a reasonably good calibration exists, a suitable selection for this parameter is from 20 to 50.
When the calibration button is pressed, the Results of Mechelle calibration screen appears. The success of the
calibration can be judged from this information.
If the error “Error only n lines found out of n” appears check the following:
1. Search window size is too small.
2. Spectral lines are very weak. To compensate, increase detector exposure time, gain or gain pulse width.
