About this cha p ter
Read this chapter attentively. It contains important information to prevent per sonal injury wh ile installing and using your chiller. Fur -
thermore, it includes several cautions to prevent dam age to your chiller. Ensure that you understand and follow a ll safety guidelines,
safety instructions and warnings m entioned in this chapter before installing and using th e chiller. After this c hapter, additional “warn-
ings” and cautions” are given depending on the procedure. Read and follow these “warnings” and “cautions” as well.
Clarication of the term chiller” used in this document
When referring in this document to the t erm “chiller” m eans that the content is applicable for following Ba rco products:

Barco provides a guarantee relating to perfect manufacturing as part of the legally stipulated terms of guaran-
tee. Obse rving the specication mentioned in this ch apter is critical for chiller performance. Neglecting this
can res ult in loss of warranty.

2.1 General considerations
General s afety instructions
Before operating this equipm ent please read this manu al thoroughly and retain it for f uture reference.
Installation and preliminary a djustments should b e performed by qualied Barco personnel or by authorized B arco service deal-
ers.
All warnings on the pr ojector and in the documentation m anuals shou
ld be adhered to.
All instructions for operating and use of this equipment must be followed precisely.
All local installation codes should be adhered to.
Never push objects of any kind into the machine through cabinet slots a s they may touch dangerous voltage points or short
circuit parts tha t could res ult in a r isk of re or electrical shock.
Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not locate this mac hine where persons will walk on the cord.
Do not operate the ULC -30A with a dam aged cord or if it has been dropped or dam aged - until it has been examined and
approved for operation by a q ualied service technician.
If a n extension cord is necessary, a cord with a current rating at least equal to that of the ULC-30A s hould be used. A cord
rated for less amperage than the ULC-30A may overheat.
Maintenance schedule operations must be carried out at the set intervals and in the mann er foreseen by the manufacturer.
All maintenance interventions and replacements that require specic technical skills and abilities must be carried out only by
qualied and authorized personnel.
Dispose of all packing materials according to their composition in com pliance with the local laws in force.
Permitted use
The U LC-30A is des igned and manufactured for the purpose of cooling video p rojectors with a laser light s ource.
The ULC -30A must be us ed in conformity with its technical specications and m ust n ot be tampered with or used for purposes other
than its intended use.
Any other use than that specied, or not included or inferable from this manual, should b e considered mish andling and therefore not
permitted.
Improper and unauthorized uses
It is forbidden to use coolants with characteristics different from those specied by the manufacturer.
It is forbidden to operate the ULC-30A without the xed covers properly in place.
It is forbidden to use the ULC-30A in a potentially ammable or explosive atmosphere.
