Supercharging
The cylinders are supplied with air by a turbocharger driven
by the exhaust gases.
The turbocharger is lubricated by the engine lubrication
system.
The air is drawn in by the turbocharger via a dry air lter
(ref. 15 08 038 1T).
Compressed air is cooled in an air/water exchanger.
The exchanger, tted between the turbocharger and the
intake manifold, is cooled by the raw water circuit. The air
entering the engine is cooled to curb pollutant emissions and
signicantly reduce the thermal and mechanical contraints
put on the engine.
For engines equipped with a keel cooler, the supercharger air
is cooled by an independent low-temperature circuit which
also cools the reduction gear oil.
The air lter for the 6 M26.2 engines is designed to be tted
directly to the engine; some applications may require a
high-performance air lter.
In this case, or for any type of tting other than onto the
engine, please contact S. I. Moteurs Baudouin's technical
department.
The condensation due to the cooling of supercharger air and
humidity is constantly drained off via the drain located at the
low point of the cooler.
You must regularly verify that the drain valve is not blocked
and is functioning properly.
