C200 - Starting the engine

SAFETY WARNING
Users should carefully read the safety instructions before installing and operating the engine.
Before starting the engine, make sure no one is
working on or near the engine.
b Make sure that all protective shields are in place.
b Make sure that there is nothing touching any part of
the engine: Projection HAZARD
b Take all necessary precautions when working around
moving parts.
b Do not disable automatic stop circuits.
These devices are designed to prevent physical harm
and material damage.
Before starting
Before starting up a new or recently serviced engine, check
that the acceleration and stop control levers on the injection
pump move freely by moving them at the same time.
Take the necessary measures for the emergency shut-off of
the fuel or air supply to prevent overspeed risks.
b Make sure the circuits are clean.
b Check that gases fl ow freely in the exhaust ducts.
b Pre-grease before starting, after an engine shutdown of 24
hours or more; for shorter durations pre-greasing is optional.
b Open the sea water inlet valve
b Check the sea water circuit supply.
b Check the electrical supply.
b Check that the operation of the auxiliary equipment
hampered by the engine has no hazardous or unexpected
consequences.
