Engine operation
C200 - Starting the engine

b Check the engine oil pressure and level.
b Check the oil level when the engine is idling or stopped
(see Checking the oil level).
b Check that the raw water pump is pumping.
b Check the entire unit.
b Check the alarms.
If no anomaly has been detected, the engine is ready for use.
Engine oil pressure
Idle speed 700 rpm 4.2 ±0.5 bars (according to temperature)
Nominal 6.5 ±0.5 bars (coolant temperature 80°C)
Do not wear baggy clothing, bracelets, necklaces etc.
which could get caught in the controls or other engine
parts.
Engine in operation
Never carry out adjustments or repairs while the engine is
running.
Stay away from all moving parts. Keep all objects away from
moving parts or they could be violently projected.
Starting the engine
From the control panel (see B600 – Electrical system):
b Close the main circuit breaker.
b Turn the keyed fi ring switch to position "1" to switch on the
panel.
The "Oil pressure alarm" indicator light comes on for 10s
(very low oil pressure safety line tests).
b You are advised to do a Lamp test of the push button and
indicator light bulbs (by pressing the 10 push button of the
control panel).
b Start the engine by turning the keyed fi ring switch to "Start"
position, release the fi ring switch after starting and it
automatically returns to position "1".
If the engine does not start, recommence the operations.
When the engine is running, the "Oil pressure alarm" and
"Battery charge" indicator lights go out.
Under normal operation, all indicator lights are out.
When an alarm fault appears, the "Buzzer" audible warning
device goes off.
