8.8 Message Channel
The asynchronous message channel is described in the GigE Vision
®
standard and of-
fers the possibility of event signaling. There is a timestamp (64 bits) for each announced
event, which contains the accurate time the event occurred.
Each event can be activated and deactivated separately.

PrimaryApplicationSwitch For systems where redundancy and fault re-
covery are required, it is often necessary for
a second application to take control over the
camera that is already under the control of
a primary application. In order to notify the
primary application that a switchover has oc-
curred, send this event before granting ac-
cess to new primary application.
